Changelog
The public changelog starts with version 2026.10.1, the first public version of CodeB Wallet. Development began in March 2023; that internal work is summarised at the end of this page.
Version 2026.10.10 – 15 October 2026 (test on Google Play)
• One card per document: a document you hold in both formats (ISO mdoc and SD-JWT VC) now appears as a single card that shows both formats; deleting it removes both.
• More reliable connections: if your network briefly cannot look up the address of our server or an issuer, the app tries again and then uses an encrypted lookup instead of failing – for example with “revocation status could not be checked”.
• About now shows the installed version.
Version 2026.10.9 – 14 October 2026 (test on Google Play)
• Fixed: after updating the app, your documents could disappear from the home screen – also documents added afterwards. They are shown again after this update; nothing needs to be added again.
Version 2026.10.8 – 14 October 2026 (test on Google Play)
• Check an ID back to back: hold two phones together and the checking phone reads the other’s ID over NFC – no QR code needed.
• Verify a document now offers every card type of your enabled issuers, including the German PID with its German fields.
• The German PID can be added as ISO mdoc and SD-JWT together (“German PID Combined”), separate from the EU PID.
• See who saw your document: each document lists the recent times you shared it – who, when and which details.
• Reminders on your phone before a document expires or when it could not be renewed automatically.
• Showing your ID in person several times in a row works reliably, and checks keep working when the EU trust lists are briefly unreachable.
• Cards you can only collect by invitation are no longer offered in “Add document”.
• Settings → About shows a QR code, so friends can install CodeB Wallet from Google Play.
• Better accessibility: screen reader (TalkBack), very large text and reduced animations.
Version 2026.10.6 – 14 October 2026 (test on Google Play)
• CodeB Wallet is now available in English, German and Maltese. It follows the phone’s language, and the language can be chosen under Settings → Language.
• CodeB Wallet now tells you when a new version is available and can update itself – from Google Play, or from our website if you installed it from there.
• Versions that must not be used any more can be updated with one tap.
• Clear messages when an invitation for a card was sent to another account, has expired or must be collected by signing in.
Version 2026.10.4 – 14 October 2026 (test on Google Play)
• Clearer messages when a document cannot be added, with the technical details folded away for support.
• Document cards can show the issuer’s own card design and colours.
• Invitation links for a new document open CodeB Wallet directly, also from e-mail and messengers.
• Document offers sent by reference are matched to the right issuer.
Version 2026.10.3 – 13 October 2026 (internal test on Google Play)
• Now distributed to invited testers through Google Play (internal testing).
• Signing requests from a website’s QR code are now handled by CodeB Wallet itself, and the signed documents go straight back to the website.
• Several documents in one signing request are confirmed once and signed together.
• If the signed documents cannot be sent back to the website, “Send again” retries.
• Fixed: version 2026.10.2 could not connect to the internet. 2026.10.3 replaced it the same day.
Version 2026.10.1 – update of 13 October 2026 (closed test)
• Restyled screens: new bottom bar, history, PIN entry, pop-up sheets and QR scanner.
• Clearer document names.
• CodeB’s own issuer certificate is now trusted when you verify documents.
• Showing your ID in person now supports both Bluetooth roles, for more readers.
• New ID card button on the home screen (not available yet).
• Sign PDFs with Aloaha’s own PDF signing technology (new signing screens with page preview).
Version 2026.10.1 – October 2026 – first public version (closed test)
• New CodeB design: your documents shown as cards, big buttons for Show ID, Sign and Verify, plain-language help.
• Verify a document: check another person’s digital ID, driving licence or just “over 18” in person over Bluetooth, with a clear trusted / not trusted result.
• Documents from the CodeB issuer (phone.codeb.io), including the personal ID (PID) in SD-JWT and ISO mdoc format, driving licence and membership cards.
• Choose your document issuers in Settings.
• Error messages now explain the reason.
• Remote signing with the CodeB signing service (advanced electronic signatures).
• New look for the PIN screen, the menu, dialogs and success screens.
• Every “Learn more” explanation now ends with a button to start right away.
• Clearer document names and formats in the list of documents to add.
• Flip through all your documents on the home screen with a swipe.
How CodeB Wallet was built – internal development (since March 2023)
CodeB Wallet was developed in-house by Aloaha Limited in Malta from March 2023, building on the CodeB smartcard app for Android, until the first public version 2026.10.1.
Before CodeB Wallet – the background
• Since 2003 Aloaha Limited has worked on PKI, PDF development and digital signatures; this is where our own PDF signing technology comes from.
• 2012: Aloaha received the WIPO Award for Innovative Enterprises at the Malta Innovation Awards in Valletta – as the first software company to develop smartcard middleware that works across many different smartcard platforms.
• 2020, 2021 and 2022: CodeB was a finalist at Capacity Media’s Global Carrier Awards for its self-sovereign digital identity work – in 2021 and 2022 in the category Best Blockchain / Security Innovation.
• October 2021: CBAN, the association of telecom carriers working with blockchain (members include A1 Telekom Austria Group and PCCW Global), selected Aloaha Limited as technology partner to provide and operate its decentralised identity service – one identity per organisation, verifiable across different ledger networks.
• The CodeB services on phone.codeb.io – issuer, signing service and verifier – are the counterpart of the wallet and are developed by Aloaha in Malta.
